We understand that effective management of geotechnical data is critical to the successful delivery of our ground investigations

Structural Soils operates a dedicated Data Management team to support all elements of the business and to drive technological change to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations.

We have a fully integrated, bespoke geo-information system to report both site and laboratory data collected during ground investigations. We have recently enhanced this offering with an extensive mobile data capture solution for all siteworks. Our experienced data managers develop and maintain this system and can tailor reports to meet contract-specific requirements. Underpinning this capability is good collaboration.

We work with our clients on contracts of all sizes

We work on a variety of contracts that are of all sizes to ensure that systems are in place to handle ground investigation information from site collection through to delivery of the final report. Where required, our data management team will work with you to create and implement data management plans to meet specification requirements. For very large contracts, we have a data manager on site to handle information at source.

Members of the Data Management team are actively involved in the AGS Data Management Working Group, including chairing the group for the last 15 years. All are committed to comprehensive, error-free AGS data submissions in a timely fashion and believe this should be a minimum deliverable. We operate extensive AGS quality control systems to ensure AGS data submissions contain all relevant data and can be imported into gINT, HoleBASE SI, OpenGround and other industry packages without issues.

The team also manages and develops the Structural Soils Ground Investigation Archive System (GIAS), which allows staff to query an online GIS-enabled database containing over 20,000 historical ground investigation reports produced by the company since 1964. This invaluable resource enables the company to provide the best possible advice to clients at all stages of a project by utilising our vast library of reports.
