On Wednesday 8th May 2019 thirty students from both St Andrew's RC Secondary School and St Roch’s Secondary spent half a day visiting our Structural Soils and RSK (our parent Group).
Each school visit had a presentation on the different types of roles within our company from Engineer to driller and laboratory technician. They were told how our ground investigation works fitted into the start of construction industry process and the importance of good foundations for the proposed stability of the structure. Once we left the office we had a tour around our yard and stores where we met one of our drillers and he showed us one of our drilling rigs. We then visited an active drilling site adjacent to the River Clyde between the Tradeston and Millennium Bridges. This allowed the students to view a working sonic drilling rig.
Structural Soils were delighted to host both St Andrews RC Secondary School and St Roch’s Secondary School. The tour gave the students a unique insight into the ground investigation industry and some of the students were very engaged with the experience and were excited to hear about the wages that the drillers get.
