Dynamic Sampling started drilling and ground investigation work at the site in August and currently has two rotary rigs working on the project, a Comacchio MC 405 and a Comacchio GEO 205. Carrying out a variety of drilling techniques, the rigs are expected to be busy at the site until mid-November.
Structural Soils’ ground investigation work on the proposed nuclear power station site saw the team recently win the Ground Investigation Project with a Geotechnical Value of over £500k award at the Ground Engineering Awards 2017. The award was presented as a joint win with Horizon Nuclear Power, Atkins and Arup, for their collaborative work on the Wylfa Newydd South Site.
With Dynamic Sampling now supporting Structural Soils on this high-profile contract, they hope to further their reputation as a dominant supplier of drilling and ground investigation services.
Dynamic Sampling director Petar Stanojevic commented, “Although ground conditions have been challenging, Dynamic Sampling’s work at the Wylfa site seems to be going very well.”
