The new standard has been updated from the 1999 edition (and its later amendments) to reflect current best practice, to cover new methods of investigation, to be fully consistent with Eurocodes that are now implemented as British Standards, and to cut repetition and improve the flow of the text.
Earlier this year Structural Soils took part in the review of the draft version and look forward to the publication of the new standard. Some changes in practice, for example to accommodate revisions to the soil description process, will be required and these will be implemented by Structural Soils in due course.
